An experience sharing with a view to promoting the use of IT in Catholic education, especially in light of evangelisation, was organised by the Central Management Committee for Diocesan Schools on 28th May 2005 at St. Francis of Assisi¡¦s English Primary School. Around 150 participants attended the session.

Rev. Stephen Tam, Parish Priest of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, commenced the session with an opening prayer, which was then followed by a welcome address delivered by Ms Margaret Lam, the Convenor of the IT Development Committee. In addition to introducing the members of the committee as well as their duties, service and future plan, Ms Lam also quoted the message conveyed on the 36th World Communications Day as an example to highlight the importance of IT in spreading the Gospel spirit. However, she stressed that students have to abide by the code of ethics when using the Internet. Lastly, she presented the souvenirs to Rev. Stephen Tam and all group chairpersons to express her gratitude towards their kind assistance.

The sharing session was divided into three parts, including a talk, group sharing and group presentation. Miss Hui and Mr LK Lai, teachers of St. Francis of Assisi¡¦s English Primary School, were invited as guest speakers of the talk on how IT can be used effectively to promote Catholic education. Participants found the talk inspiring, particularly in the use of IT for evangelisation.

After the talk, there was a group sharing session during which participants worked in groups to share their experiences in using IT. This was followed by group leaders¡¦ presentation which provided participants with a better insight into the incorporation of IT with Catholic education.

Finally, the experience sharing session ended with a closing prayer led by Mr Leung, Principal of St. Francis of Assisi¡¦s English Primary School. As requested by the participants, group presentation materials would be compiled for circulation among participating schools.
